Subject IV: Science (5005)
The Elementary Education: Science exam will test that you have achieved the knowledge required to perform as an elementary school education through 50 selected-response questions within the following content categories:

  • Earth Science
  • Life Science
  • Physical Science

The exam is computer delivered and comprised of both selected-response and numeric-entry questions with an on-screen scientific calculator provided. As your score is determined only based on the number of correctly answered questions with no penalty given for incorrect responses, it is recommended to leave no question unanswered. You will be given a total of 4.25 hours divided into these four separately timed subjects to complete the examination. A passing scores signifies that you have achieved the level of knowledge and skill required to successfully perform in the position as an entry-level elementary teacher in English, mathematics, social studies and science. This supports a generalist elementary school license. Other requirements and passing scores are determined by the state.
